Finalists for the Los Angeles Times Book Awards were announced this morning. The awards will be given out at a ceremony the night before the weekend-long L.A. Times Festival of Books, which will be held April 13-14 on the campus of USC.
The Fiction finalists are:

The finalists for the First Fiction award are:
Katya Apekina, The Deeper the Water the Uglier the Fish

R.O. Kwon, The Incendiaries
Tommy Orange, There There
Nafissa Thompson-Spires, Heads of the Colored People: Stories
The Poetry finalists are:
Jos Charles, Feeld
Terrance Hayes, American Sonnets for My Past and Future Assassin
Diana Khoi Nguyen, Ghost Of
Carl Phillips, Wild Is the Wind
Diane Seuss, Still Life With Two Dead Peacocks and a Girl
Kiese Laymon, whose Heavy: An American Memoir just won the Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Nonfiction, will receive the Christopher Isherwood Prize for Autobiographical Prose.
