One of the topics currently being discussed in book circles is how women and their work are treated commercially. Threads include the alleged lack of female book reviewers or female-written books being reviewed, the marketing of women’s books to women only (check the very feminine cover art), or whether men read books by women. The gender issue seems part and parcel of the 2013 zeitgeist.
Damyanti, host of a writing and literature blog in Singapore, posted a short piece on the subject with links to a few other related articles and interviews.
