Ruth Ozeki’s acclaimed novel, A Tale for the Time Being, has won the IBW (Independent Booksellers Week) Award from the UK’s independent booksellers. The book, Ozeki’s third novel, was selected over those by heavyweights like Hillary Mantel (Bring Up the Bodies) and Barbara Kingsolver (Flight Behavior), as well as recent hits by Katherine Boo (Beyond the Beautiful Forevers), Madeline Miller (The Song of Achilles), and Rachel Joyce (The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry). Ozeki launches a book tour of the UK on June 29, a case of fortuitous timing, to say the least. A Tale for the Time Being was published in the U.S. and U.K. in March to much critical acclaim. Notably, it was published simultaneously in hardback and paperback editions in the U.K. That fact, along with some very inventive cover art, garnered the book some additional attention and made it a favorite among independent booksellers.
